2022-2023 Tax Assessment Notice

The Oakland Chinatown Community Benefit District, also known as the Oakland Chinatown Improvement Council (OCIC), was formed in 2021 through a vote of property owners. OCIC is funded through tax assessments to improve and promote the community. In 2022-23, there were no increases in your assessment. However, due to escalating and inflationary costs, the OCIC Board has approved a 5% increase in your assessment for 2023-24. This increase will be reflected in your Property Tax for 2024. Please review the 2022 Compliance Report to understand how your assessments are spent on improving the neighborhood.

2022 OCIC City Compliance Report

2022 was the first complete year for the Oakland Chinatown Improvement Council. OCIC faced many challenges as a new organization: creating the governing board, understanding the requirements of running the organization, implementing  contracts, organizing events, and building relationships necessary to help improve the community. We are building on our successes and learning to navigate the challenges which face us. We are providing this public report which details the purpose of the organization, our setup process, the programs we have implemented, and plans for the current year.

Regularly Scheduled Full Board Meetings

Full Board Meetings usually occur on the last Tuesday of the month, 6:30pm-8:30pm. We provide Cantonese interpretation. If you need assistance with another language, please contact info@ocic-ca.org at least 7 days prior to the meeting.
