COMPOST AND RECYCLE

OCIC collaborated with the City of Oakland to help businesses and residents understand the requirements regarding composting and recycling. Local municipalities are now implementing fines to non-conforming businesses. Learn more about properly dealing with your waste and avoiding the fines.

CHINATOWN SAFE

Safety is a primary concern in Oakland Chinatown. Many neighborhoods in Oakland have experienced significant increases in crime and violence in the past few years. OCIC actively engages with the City and Oakland Police to assist in the well-being of the neighborhood. Community groups such as the Toishan Benevolent Association walk the neighborhood daily to help report incidents to OPD and MACRO.

In early 2023, OCIC contracted with an over-night patrol company, DLS Corp, in trying to keep the community safe. The security patrol monitors the neighborhood from early evenings through the night seven days a week.
